FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2026) – Ahead of elections coming up on November 3, Team Kentucky is reminding eligible registered voters who do not currently have an accepted form of identification that they can get a Voter ID card at no cost at Driver Licensing Regional Offices. Voter ID cards are available year-round and can help eligible Kentuckians meet voting ID requirements if they do not have another accepted form of ID.
“Voting is the bedrock of our democracy and allows Americans to have a say in what is best for their communities and our country,” said Gov. Beshear. “This program helps eligible voters get the ID they need to have their voices heard this November.”
Voter ID cards can be requested at any of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s (KYTC) 35 Driver Licensing Regional Offices or at their regularly scheduled popup driver licensing events. When applying, Kentuckians must present proof of identity, proof of Social Security number, proof of Kentucky residency documents, and complete an application form.
To be eligible for a Voter ID card, applicants must:
- Be registered to vote in Kentucky or register to vote when applying.
- Not have another acceptable form of state-issued identification, such as a valid Kentucky driver's license.
- Provide required documentation.
Driver Licensing Regional Offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and two Saturday service hours will be offered at all offices on Oct. 10 and Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Through Nov. 3, staff will prioritize Voter ID card requests to minimize barriers and help ensure eligible Kentuckians have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
