Qualifying Exam for Montgomery County Property Valuation Administrator Scheduled for June 17

Special exam only open to residents of Montgomery County 

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 8, 2025) The Kentucky Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced a special examination to qualify prospective candidates to fill one Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) position in Montgomery County. 

The examination will be held at 10 a.m. EST on June 17 at: 

Kentucky Association of Counties 
400 Englewood Drive (Lower Level) 
Frankfort, KY 40601 

Eligibility
To register for the special examination, applicants must meet the criteria set forth in Section 100 of the Kentucky Constitution.  

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Be at least 24 years of age;
  • Be a citizen of Kentucky; 
  • Have resided in the state at least two years preceding the election; and 
  • Have resided in Montgomery County at least one year preceding the election. 

A government-issued photo ID will be required for all examinees.  

Registration
To register for the examination, please complete the online registration form on DOR's website. A confirmation of your registration will be delivered via email. 

Exam Information
Participants will have 3.5 hours to complete the examination, which consists of questions that test the applicant’s general knowledge. All materials necessary to take the examination, including calculators, are supplied. There is no study guide for the exam. 

The special qualifying test is required by Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 132.380(1). 

Qualified examinees with a score of 70 percent or better will be eligible for appointment by the Governor to fill the local PVA vacancy in Montgomery County until an election is held in 2026.
