Kentucky Labor Cabinet to Hold Free OSHA Training in Bowling Green Next Week

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 3, 2018) – The Kentucky Labor Cabinet will host free OSHA training in Bowling Green July 9-12. The week-long workplace safety seminar is a part of the Division of Occupational Safety & Health Education & Training’s (also known as KY Safe) Population Center Training series which holds trainings in various cities across the state throughout the year.

Population Center Training courses are for both employers and employees and are typically given over a one-week period at each location. The courses are designed to outline the requirements contained in the various subparts of the General Industry and Construction Standards, covering both safety and health issues. All classes are free of charge and open to the public.

Last year, the Labor Cabinet conducted six trainings across the Commonwealth for over 1,600 attendees. In addition, 254 free onsite visits, or “consultative surveys,” were conducted with various employers. As a result of these confidential surveys, employers corrected 1,790 serious conditions that could have affected up to 55,136 employees resulting in potential enforcement penalties of up to $12,530,000.
