GFOA Honors KPPA for Excellence in Financial Reporting

FRANKFORT, KY – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) for the Authority’s Annual Financial Report (AFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 22nd year KPPA has received this award from the GFOA.

“We pride ourselves on our transparency regarding all aspects of our Systems,” said KPPA Executive Director David Eager. “I think this award really helps validate our efforts.”

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve. KPPA’s annual report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the annual report.

The report is available on KPPA’s website, https://kyret.ky.gov, under the Publications & Forms tab.

As of June 30, 2021, KPPA managed $22.7 billion in pension and insurance trust funds for hazardous and nonhazardous state and local employees, and the Kentucky State Police.
