Treasurer Metcalf Names Jim Florence as Division Director of Unclaimed Property

FRANKFORT, Ky (October 20, 2025) - Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf today announced the appointment of Jim Florence as the new Division Director of Unclaimed Property.

“Returning unclaimed property to its rightful owners is one of the most important services our office provides,” said Treasurer Metcalf. “Jim’s decades of leadership in operations, compliance, and financial services will ensure that we continue to safeguard these assets while making it easier for Kentuckians to reclaim what is theirs.”

Florence, a Lexington resident, brings more than 30 years of leadership experience. He has held senior management roles at Toyota Motor North America, where he led large-scale payroll, human resources, and workforce initiatives serving tens of thousands of employees nationwide. His career also includes executive positions in banking and credit union operations, where he was recognized for improving efficiency, compliance, and customer service.

“I am honored to join the Treasury and to lead the Division of Unclaimed Property,” said Florence. “I look forward to building on the office’s strong record of service and helping more Kentuckians recover the funds that rightfully belong to them.”

The Kentucky State Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for returning millions of dollars in lost or forgotten assets — including bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks, insurance proceeds, and safe deposit box contents — to their rightful owners. Kentuckians can easily search for unclaimed property at www.treasury.ky.gov.
