FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 17, 2026) — The Kentucky State Treasurer’s Office will be at the Kentucky State Fair from August 20–30, 2026, helping Kentuckians search for unclaimed property and reconnect with money that may belong to them.
“Thousands of Kentuckians have unclaimed property waiting to be claimed, and the State Fair gives us an opportunity to bring this service directly to families from across the Commonwealth,” said Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf. “I encourage everyone attending the fair to stop by our booth, take a few minutes to search, and see if they have money waiting for them.”
Treasury staff will be available throughout the Kentucky State Fair at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville to assist visitors with free unclaimed property searches, answer questions, and help Kentuckians understand the claims process.
Unclaimed property can include forgotten bank accounts, refunds, checks, insurance proceeds, and other financial assets that have been turned over to the Commonwealth after becoming inactive.
Visitors will also have access to information about STABLE Kentucky, Kentucky’s savings program designed to help eligible individuals with disabilities save and invest while maintaining important benefits.
Kentuckians who cannot attend the State Fair can search for unclaimed property anytime by visiting the Kentucky State Treasurer’s Office website at treasury.ky.gov.
