Treasurer Allison Ball Speeds Up Unclaimed Property Money for Eastern Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 2, 2022) - Today Kentucky State Treasurer Allison Ball announced she is expediting unclaimed property claims to Eastern Kentucky.

This is being done to help Kentuckians devastated by the continuing floods. The goal is to get money quickly back into the hands of Kentuckians who need it as our communities rebuild.

"Eastern Kentucky is experiencing a tragedy, " Ball said. "As a native of Floyd County, I am heart broken to see the loss of life and devastation. We want to do whatever at the Treasury to help Eastern KY in this time of need."

The Kentucky State Treasury took similar action during the tornado disaster in Western Kentucky. Unclaimed property typically consists of payroll checks, unclaimed safety deposit boxes, old life insurance policies, stocks or vendor checks that have remained unclaimed by their owners for several years. The money in unclaimed property can be a helping hand in times of strain.

Claims from Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe counties will be expedited.
