RICHMOND, Ky. (May 30, 2018) – Might your family have connections to the pioneers who passed through or settled at Fort Boonesborough?
Fort Boonesborough State Park is hosting a special event that may help shed some light on your ancestors. The park is hosting “A Gathering of Descendants” on June 23 – a day dedicated to descendants of the settlers who lived at the fort in the late 1700s.
Daniel Boone, who blazed the Wilderness Road and established Fort Boonesborough in 1775, is the fort’s most famous resident.
The park will have information about some of its earliest residents, contacts for early Kentucky cemetery locations and property records, museum exhibits of artifacts from the original fort site, authors on hand to sign books about the early days of the fort, and historical interpretation of the daily lives, chores, skills, and trades of those who came to Fort Boonesborough.
The event is open to the public and free with paid admission to the fort.
Organizations scheduled to attend include:
The Bluegrass Museum
Clark County Historical Society
Authors Harry Enoch and Neal Hammon
The Society of Boonesborough
Madison County Historical Society
Archeaologist Nancy O'Malley
Friends of Boone Trace
Representatives of the Chenault and Calloway families
The Boone Society
