CPE announces new online resource for military students, families

The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education today announced the launch of a new initiative to support military students’ transition to campus.

The new centralized resource is the first phase of a long-term plan recently outlined by CPE President Aaron Thompson.

“Kentucky is in a unique position to serve those who serve our country,” said Thompson. “Being able to simplify and support the transition from solider to student and from campus to career is an honor and responsibility that we take seriously.”

This first phase of the state’s effort focuses on getting soldiers quickly to the local, state and national resource information needed to make informed educational decisions. The second phase of the project will outline how each institution assesses educational credits based on unique military experiences, and the third phase will allow potential students the opportunity to compare institutional resources, supports and policies from campus to campus.

The new resource can be found on the Council’s website at http://cpe.ky.gov/military.

The Council on Postsecondary Education is leading efforts to get more Kentuckians more highly educated. By 2030, at least 60 percent of working-age adults in Kentucky will need to have earned a postsecondary education degree or credential to meet expected workforce demands.
