Commonwealth Education Continuum to hold virtual meeting on March 25

State policy leaders will hold the second meeting of the Commonwealth Education Continuum this week to establish work groups and timelines – all part of a new effort to ease transition points for students through each level of Kentucky’s education system and into the workforce.

The group will meet at 2 p.m. ET, Thursday, March 25 via livestream on the Council’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK10p_HfwBdgRpVPjgz8i1A. The agenda is available at http://cpe.ky.gov/aboutus/meetings.

During an initial meeting in January, the continuum reviewed data on educational outcomes and discussed potential improvements to educational issues facing the commonwealth. Based on that discussion, the group’s co-chairs will present proposals for workgroups that focus on early postsecondary opportunities, the transition to college, and educator workforce and diversity.

The upcoming meeting will allow members to learn more about the proposals, provide feedback and consider joining a workgroup.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the continuum in January in an effort to help students successfully progress through each level of Kentucky’s education system and into the workforce.

Co-chairs include Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, who also serves as secretary of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, Aaron Thompson, president of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and Commissioner of Education Jason Glass.
