Commonwealth Education Continuum to hold virtual meeting on June 23

State policy leaders will review and discuss the latest insights from students and families this week when the Commonwealth Education Continuum gathers for its third meeting online.

Over the past several weeks, the continuum has partnered with Kentucky's eight regional education cooperatives to conduct a series of focus groups and interviews. The goal is to capture and learn from the experiences of students, families and practitioners from across the state.

The group plans to review the results of this effort when it meets at 1 p.m. ET, Wednesday, June 23 via livestream at https://www.youtube.com/c/KentuckyCouncilOnPostsecondaryEducationFrankfort. The agenda is available at http://cpe.ky.gov/aboutus/meetings.

The continuum is a statewide effort to help students successfully progress through each level of Kentucky’s education system and into the workforce. It is co-chaired by President Aaron Thompson, head of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education; Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, secretary of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, and Commissioner of Education Jason Glass.

The group is focused on three priority topics: improving postsecondary transitions, increasing equitable access and success in early postsecondary opportunities, and increasing the diversity of the teacher workforce.

During the meeting this week, members will also have the opportunity to learn more about the workgroup outcomes since April, discuss emerging recommendations based on preliminary stakeholder findings and provide guidance on future workgroup actions.
