FRANKFORT, Ky. (September 11, 2020) – Secretary of State Michael Adams announced today a partnership with the Kentucky Bar Association to help recruit poll workers for the upcoming election.
Today, the KBA’s Continuing Legal Education Commission notified Adams that it has accredited draft election law training materials prepared by the Secretary of State’s Office. Kentucky attorneys can receive 1.5 credit hours – of the 12.5 credit hours they need annually to keep their law licenses – for participating in the election law training provided to volunteer poll workers.
Adams said, “Our Office has taken several creative steps to address our poll worker crisis. Today we announce another: Kentucky lawyers now can get free CLE for poll worker training – and they even get paid for volunteering.”
Any registered voter can sign up to be a poll worker through govoteky.com. More than 4,000 Kentuckians already have used this new mechanism to volunteer to serve our Commonwealth.
