Frankfort, Ky. (February 17, 2022) – Secretary of State Michael Adams issues the following statement on Franklin Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate’s order denying the Kentucky Democratic Party’s request for a temporary injunction to halt the conduct of the May 2022 primary elections under recently enacted Kentucky State House and Congressional maps:
“I’m grateful that Judge Wingate has ruled ‘[i]t is not in the public interest’ for the Kentucky Democratic Party to ‘throw the election process into disarray.’
“Governor Beshear worked with me in good faith to ensure a smooth election in 2020. Now I urge his party to act in good faith to ensure a smooth election in 2022 by dropping this reckless lawsuit.”
