ADAMS PRAISES SENATE FOR ON PASSAGE OF SB 79

Frankfort, Ky. (March 1, 2023) – Secretary of State Michael Adams released the following statement on the Senate’s unanimous passage of Senate Bill 79, the Safe at Home Act, aimed at protecting victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other sexual offenses.

“I’m grateful to senators of both parties for coming together to better protect victims of domestic violence, and I hope the House of Representatives will do likewise,” Adams said. “With the Senate’s passage of the Safe at Home Act, we are one step closer to ensuring that survivors of domestic violence can get the protection they deserve.”

Senate Bill 79, sponsored by Sen. Julie Raque Adams, R-Louisville, expands the Secretary of State’s Address Confidentiality Program by allowing victims of domestic violence to participate in the program without a judicial protective order, and masks their addresses on publicly available government records beyond just the voter rolls.
