FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Parks are celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week May 4-12 with some special offers for guests during May and at other times during the spring and summer.
These include special rates at lodges and cottages and weekday camping discounts. Swimming pools and beaches at Kentucky State Parks will open Memorial Day weekend (weather permitting).
Spring is also a great time to try one of the park system’s award-winning golf courses or to stay overnight at one of 17 resort parks in a lodge or cottage. For more information, reservations and a list of events, visit www.parks.ky.gov

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Lucas
Come to the lake between May 4-June 15, Sunday through Thursday, and get one night in lodge room with balcony, large pizza, four fountain drinks and dozen cookies for $84.95 plus tax. Based on availability. Not available for existing reservations. Call park at 800-325-0057 to reserve.
Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill
The park is offering cottages for $119.95 a night, plus tax and fees, Sunday through Thursday, through May 31. Two-bedroom cottages have fireplaces, modern conveniences, and covered decks. Greenbo Lake State Resort Park, Greenup
The park is offering a “Fun in the Sun Getaway Package” June 2-Aug. 29. The $225 package includes three nights’ lodging, a family pass to the pool, a family mini-golf pass, and a pontoon boat for a half day. Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora
Kenlake is offering deals on lodge rooms and cottages through May 15. They include lodge rooms for $59.95 Sunday through Thursday and $69.95 Friday and Saturday. Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Gilbertsville
The park is offering a Fisherman’s Cottage Special through May 19, 2013. One- and two-bedroom cottages for $45.95 a night plus tax and fees. Cottages have fully equipped kitchens. Call 1-800-325-0146 for reservations. Not applicable during special events.
Rough River Dam State Resort Park, Falls of Rough
The park is offering a “Steal of a Deal.” Steal away for one night or three at the lodge, Sunday-Tuesday, and rooms are only $49 plus applicable taxes and fees per night. At the park restaurant, military kids eat free Monday through Thursday with parent’s military ID. Limit 2 kids per adult. At the marinas, the park is offering $50 off pontoon rental Monday through Wednesday. A $100 damage deposit is required with all rentals. Rental cost is before tax and cost of gas. Call the park at 1-800-325-1713 to receive lodging and boating deal. These deals exclude holidays and are good through Sept. 2, 2013.
Taylorsville Lake State Park, Taylorsville
Taylorsville Lake State Park will offer a 20 percent discount for camping for May 2013, Sunday through Wednesday. Reservations must be made by calling the park for the discount. Call 502-477-0086 or 502-477-8713.
Many Kentucky State Park campgrounds are offering 20 percent off Sunday through Wednesday during May. Please call the campground to get the discount. The discount is not available for existing reservations and cannot be combined with other discounts.
