Easter Events Planned At Kentucky State Parks

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Parks will be serving their annual Easter buffets March 31, and several parks are planning other special events.

 

The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts.

 

The price for adults is $18.49 and children (12 and under) are $8.49, not including tax. The price includes a beverage. (Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park and Pennyrile Forest State Park menu and pricing will vary)

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, Mount Olivet

Easter Egg Hunt, March 30

More than 2,000 eggs filled with candy or toys will be hidden for girls and boys under the age of 12 to hunt. There will be four age categories for children through age 12. Eggs for each category will be hidden in different locations surrounding the Pioneer Museum. Prizes will be awarded. The hunt will start at 11 a.m. in front of the Pioneer Museum. 1-800-443-7008.

 

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn

Easter Egg Hunt, March 30

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park will have its annual egg hunt Saturday, March 30, at 2:30 p.m. The hunt will be held on the Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park’s Marina Road and is free to all children ages 12 and under. Children will be divided into age groups. Throughout the event, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos. 1-800-325-0058.

 

Carter Caves State Resort Park, Olive Hill

Easter Weekend Getaway, March 30-31

Recreation programs will be scheduled throughout the weekend including Easter egg coloring, canoeing, a wildflower walk and more. The annual Easter buffet will be served Sunday, and an egg hunt sponsored by the Carter Caves Homemakers – with more than 1,000 eggs for children 12 and under – will be held. The hunt starts at 2 p.m. at the Welcome Center. Tours of Cascade Cave and X-Cave will be on a regular schedule. Call 1-800-325-0059.

 

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin

Easter Egg Hunt, March 31

The annual Easter buffet will be served March 31 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. An Easter Egg hunt sponsored by the Whitley County Tourism Board with more than 1,000 eggs for children 10 and under will be held at 2 p.m. behind the pool at the picnic shelter. Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville

Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond

“Eggs-citing” Easter Weekend, March 28-31

Join Fort Boonesborough’s famous Easter celebration with a variety of activities. They will include bingo, Easter crafts, an Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny, free mini-golf, tours, a camper decoration contest and more. Free continental breakfast for campers on Sunday. Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Prestonsburg

Easter Egg Hunt, March 30

The Easter Bunny has stopped by Jenny Wiley State Resort Park and has lots of eggs for the boys and girls! More than 3,000 eggs will be waiting, just right for the picking in the campground starting at 2 p.m. March 30. Have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny before he hops out of the park. Three age groups (0-4, 5-8, and 9-12);parents or guardians must accompany children. This event is free of charge. 1-800-325-0142.

 

John James Audubon State Park, Henderson

“Eggstravaganza” Art, March 23

Join John James Audubon State Park for the annual “Eggstravaganza,” March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children ages 3-7 can have a hoppin’ good time with “Funny Bunnies Art,” storytelling and some animal friends from Equestrian Enterprises.  Don’t miss all the fun at the John James Audubon Museum. Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora

Easter Egg Hunt, March 31

Kenlake State Resort Park in Aurora will offer an Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 31, at 2 p.m., on the front lawn of Kenlake Lodge. Prizes in different age categories will be given. (through age 12) The Easter Bunny will be here, so bring your camera. Egg hunt sponsored by the Hitching Post, Regal Limousine Service and Kenlake employees. The Easter buffet will be served in the Aurora Landing Restaurant from noon to 4 p.m. 1-800-325-0143.

 

Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz

“Egg-ceptional” Egg Hunt, March 31

 Windows on the Water restaurant at Lake Barkley State Resort Park will offer its annual Easter buffet, March 31, from noon to 8 p.m. That afternoon, Lake Barkley showers the fields with eggs in its “Egg-ceptional” Egg Hunt! The Easter Bunny will make an appearance at 2:30 p.m., so don’t forget your camera! The egg hunt starts at 3 p.m. at the fitness center. More than 1,000 eggs filled with candy or toys will be hidden for girls and boys under the age of 15. There will be different age categories, and eggs will be hidden in different areas for each category in the campground area. Old Fort Harrod State Park, Harrodsburg

Easter Egg Hunt, March 30

Old Fort Harrod is once again the location of the Kiwanis Club’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, at noon.  All children under 12 are invited to come and take part in this fun event. Search for candy in the grass, compete in the games and have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny himself.  859-734-3314.

Easter “Eggcitement,” March 31

Make Easter “Eggciting” at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park! The park will feature its Easter buffet starting at noon. At 1:30 p.m., there will be Easter Bunny pictures ($2/picture) at the lodge, and at 2:30 p.m. there will be a free Easter egg hunt at the lodge. Events will go on rain or shine! Rough River Dam State Resort Park, Falls of Rough

Easter Egg Hunt, March 30

The Friends of Rough River Lake will present Easter 2013 EGGSTRAVAGANZA on Saturday, March 30. Beginning at 2 p.m., the friends will host a giant Easter egg hunt with more than  3,000 eggs hidden. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., with participants divided into four age groups through age 12. Bring your camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. On Easter Sunday, bring the family to Grayson’s Landing Restaurant to enjoy a delicious Easter meal featuring all the traditional favorites. Lunch begins at noon.
