FRANKFORT, Ky. – Rita Edmondson, who has worked in various jobs at Pine Mountain State Resort Park during the last 15 years, has been named the park manager, Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker announced today.
Edmondson is a native of Pineville and started as a front desk clerk at the park in 1999. She worked her way up to the park business manager in 2008, the position she held before being named park manager. Edmondson graduated from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System in 2006.
Edmondson serves on the board of the Bell County Chamber of Commerce and has served as a member of the Business Professional Women’s Association.
The park has a 30-room lodge, cottages and a full-service restaurant. It also has a golf course and other recreational opportunities for guests. Pine Mountain State Resort Park is located south of Pineville, on US 25E, 10 miles north of Middlesboro.
The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 49 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
