FRANKFORT, Ky. — An exhibit featuring the work of eight Kentucky artists is on display through April 22, 2013, in the office of First Lady Jane Beshear as part of the annual "First Lady's Exhibit," the Kentucky Arts Council announced today.
Artists invited to participate are in the Kentucky Crafted program or have received an Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship Award. All artists chosen for the current installment of the exhibit are in the Kentucky Crafted program.
"Congratulations to the talented Kentucky artists selected to show in this year's exhibit," said Mrs. Beshear."Our administration is honored to support our Commonwealth's art community, and I encourage all visitors to the State Capitol to stop by my office and view these outstanding works."
The exhibit features 13 pieces of artwork that include paintings, mixed media, collage and photography. Artists chosen to participate in the exhibit are:
- Paula Clark, Frankfort
- Marta Dorton, Lexington
- Elsie Harris, Lexington
- Christine Kuhn, Lexington
- Catherine Logsdon, Lakeside Park
- Judy Mudd, Louisville
- Kathleen O'Brien, Harrodsburg
- Judy Rosati, Louisville
"Artists in the arts council's programs benefit from the support of First Lady Beshear who graciously opens her office each year for this exhibit," said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. "Kentucky is fortunate to have a Governor and First Lady who prove time and again they are dedicated to promoting the arts in the state."
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
