Kentucky History Treasures Begins Airing This Weekend

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 30, 2013) — Kentucky History Treasures, a new weekly feature highlighting the collections and programs of the Kentucky Historical Society, debuts this Sunday, Aug. 31, on Lexington’s ABC affiliate WTVQ during ABC 36 Weekend Edition at 11 p.m. The series is hosted by WTVQ news anchor Doug High.

The first segment will feature the Explore KYHistory smartphone app (http://explorekyhistory.ky.gov/), with KHS’s Stuart Sanders sharing how this program takes the stories behind our community-driven historical markers, adds related items from the KHS collections and combines it into a historical tour of the Commonwealth. During its 17-week run Kentucky History Treasures will also explore the HistoryMobile, show off curators’ favorites in our collections and help viewers get acquainted with the people and items that keep Kentucky’s citizens connected to their past.
