Dr. Aaron Thompson, executive vice president and chief academic officer for the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, will be the keynote speaker at the 11th annual Legislative Black History Month Celebration at 11:30 a.m. EST, Wednesday, February 5 in the Capitol Rotunda.
This year’s theme is “Reaching Higher for Educational Excellence.” Dr. Thompson's keynote will address the history, current endeavors and promising future of historically black institutions of higher learning in general, and in the Commonwealth. Also as part of the celebration, Kentucky State University and Simmons College of Kentucky – two historically black institutions of higher learning in the Commonwealth -- will be honored.
