Frankfort, KY (August, 2013) – Kentucky Treasurer Todd Hollenbach will have his Treasure Finders program in place for fairgoers and this year it’s “going green” to help you find some unclaimed green!

“This year, our booth in the south wing will have an all-digital unclaimed property list rather than the old bulky paper lists” Treasurer Hollenbach said.  “Folks will be able to come right up to the booth and search our unclaimed database on one of several laptops that we’ll have set up” Hollenbach added.

Treasury workers will be available to assist in the search and then provide help to get the claims process started.

The State Treasurer serves as custodian of all property surrendered to the state that is presumed lost or abandoned.  Each year, the Kentucky Treasury returns millions of dollars in unclaimed property to Kentucky residents.

Since 2008, under the proactive leadership of Treasurer Hollenbach and his Treasure Finders program, the Treasury has returned a record of more than eighty-eight million ($88,000,000) dollars in lost and abandoned property to thousands of Kentuckians and is still in possession of more than four hundred million ($400,000,000) dollars that the Treasurer is working to return to its rightful owners.

If you can’t make it to the fair this year and you still want to find out if you’ve got some unclaimed green coming to you, you can search the unclaimed property database on your own computer at www.MissingMoney.com.

If you don’t have access to the internet, you can call Treasury’s Unclaimed Property office toll-free at 800-465-4722, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. .
