FRANKFORT, Ky. – Whether you camp in a pup tent or a large recreational vehicle, the Kentucky State Parks have a campsite for you. And during April, the state parks are offering two nights for the price of one, a great deal for spring break.
All 31 Kentucky State Park campgrounds open April 1. The special rate is good during the month of April on Sunday through Thursday nights and does not include weekends. When making the reservation for the April deal, use the promotion code “Spring2016.”
Camping is one of the more popular activities at Kentucky State Parks. Many campgrounds are near lakes and streams for boating and fishing. Most all parks have hiking trails and other recreational activities during the warmer months. Most campsites have water and electric hookups, a fire ring and a picnic table.
It’s best to make advance reservations for campsites since they often fill up on weekends. If you want to camp for spring break, we suggest you make your reservations soon! Online reservations allow you to see maps and photos of the campsites. Visit www.parks.ky.gov and click on “reservations.”
Five parks offer equestrian sites for campers with horses. They are: Pennyrile Forest, Dale Hollow, Taylorsville Lake, Carter Caves and Greenbo Lake. There are also camper cabins at Dale Hollow and fully equipped camping units at Columbus-Belmont State Park.
Campgrounds are pet friendly, but dogs should remain on a leash.
Another camping special is the annual Camper Appreciation Weekend which offers campers another two nights for the price of one. This year, Camper Appreciation Weekend is April 29-May 1.
(The Kentucky Horse Park is not included in this offer)
